PATIO PAINTER
I have been quite busy during this good weather, planting veg and tidying the garden, and really struggling to stay indoors and do some artwork.
I have heard a lot of artists saying they are struggling with creativity, I just want to do it in the sunshine!
I think I have a new job description of patio painter, at least it's a sit down job!
I did a couple of test pieces which I found lying around the garden, before I finally decided on the blue. They are both nice, and took ages to decide.
This is masonry paint from an online company Designerpaints.com connected to Brewers decorators, and they are really efficient. It was mixed and delivered within 3 days, and is so well packed so that there is no chance of spillage. I was a bit reluctant to order online as I heard so many horror stories about packages full of paint!
I love this blue, and wanted a Spanish kind of feel, so have painted all the dirty pink ones now. I did alternate chessboard effect purely so I can get back out of a painted patio really.
I think its going to look good when they are all done, but of course that is going to take a long time.
I am looking out of the studio window at it all now, wishing the sun would hurry up and come back out. so far it has stood up to all this rain which is good.
I am dying to get it finished now!
But until then I am back indoors working on canvas!
As you can see I have managed to complete all of the alternate slabs, and really happy with the effect. I am thinking about sealing them with something for the winter.
now living with them like this while I decide whether or not to do the rest.
I really want to try doing them all, so I can see how the whole pattern is built up, but it may be too much,.

Pinterest have a lot to answer to!
Seeing the patio painting online really inspired and interested me, and I really was keen to have a go, no idea why, it must have been lockdown brain or something!
As my garden slabs are not that pretty I didn't mind using them as an experiment and
since painting the beer garden mural ( which you can find further on in this blog feed)
I have been wanting to get into garden art much more, so long as it's not too demanding on my health.
I ordered the stencil online, and they cut it exactly to the size of your slab.
I used white weather shield masonry paint for this wall, and tinted the blue with acrylic paint.
Of course it's all weather related!!
oooh the boss is watching! |
Next I did a test to see how the stencil came out on the slab. Looking good!
