Recently I completed this painting and wondered why it looked so "design like" That is the only way I could describe it. I thought it reminded me of someone else's work.
Once I shared an image of it onto social media, another artist pointed out that it looked a bit "William Morris" That was it! I totally agree! Which has made me feel quite pleased because I love his work. I wasn't consciously inspired to make it that way, but I am so pleased with how it has turned out.
You can see how flat the acrylic paint looks before it is varnished in this image. I have to photograph before varnishing if I intend to make prints because It has such a shine to it, but this helps the colour to deepen, and bring out the black much more. So now you can see how shiny and glossy it really looks. This does tend to die down a little, but I need to give it at least 2 coats for protection. Next it will be framed. so much to do!
